The Climate Risk Short Course Level I: Foundations is planned to be held from 12–13 November 2026 at Griffith University’s Gold Coast Campus, offering a practical introduction to climate risk, governance, compliance and adaptation planning for professionals across government, industry, consulting and infrastructure.
Designed for professionals working across government, consulting, infrastructure, industry, NGOs and the private sector, this foundational program blends expert-led sessions with practical learning to build essential knowledge in climate risk, multi-hazard risk, governance, compliance and adaptation planning.
The program introduces foundational concepts in climate risk, climate-related hazards, multi-hazard assessment, exposure and vulnerability, risk governance, disclosure and compliance expectations, adaptation pathways, decision-making under uncertainty, and the practical use of AI to support climate risk analysis, scenario interpretation, workflow improvement and adaptation planning. Led by experts from research, government and industry, the course fosters peer learning and networking across sectors.
The course will be delivered through interactive classroom-based presentations, group discussions and applied case study work, providing participants with the concepts, tools and frameworks needed to understand climate risk, assess multi-hazard challenges, meet emerging expectations, and support better planning, governance and adaptation decisions. In-person attendees will also benefit from a catered program, including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
